Terms of Use

This is a plain-language summary of our terms, prepared by CreatixBox LLC. It is not legal advice, and a short review by counsel is recommended before you rely on it.

Agreement

These terms are between you and CreatixBox LLC ("CreatixBox") and cover your use of the Halvox application, its companion command-line tool and MCP server, and the halvox.ai website. By downloading, buying, or using Halvox, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Halvox.

Your license

When you buy Halvox, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on up to two Macs that you own or control, for as long as these terms are met. You may use Halvox for personal or business work. You may not resell, redistribute, rent, or sublicense it, share your license key, or attempt to copy, reverse-engineer, or circumvent its licensing, except where the law expressly allows.

Trial, price, and payment

Halvox includes a 7-day trial with every feature unlocked. After the trial, dictation pauses until you buy a license, and file transcription continues to work for free. A license is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It is yours permanently and includes all updates released during the twelve months after purchase; updates released after that period may require a separate, optional upgrade purchase, and the version you have keeps working either way. Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, and are also subject to Polar's terms. Prices are shown before you buy and may change for future purchases.

Refunds

Because there is a free trial, we ask that you make sure Halvox works for you before buying. If something is wrong, write to contact@halvox.ai and we will make it right. Refunds are handled through Polar as the merchant of record.

Third-party services

Two optional parts of Halvox rely on services you bring or choose. The cleanup feature uses Anthropic's API with your own API key and is subject to Anthropic's terms. Purchases and license validation use Polar. We are not responsible for those third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

Open-source software

Halvox is built with, and gratefully credits, open-source software, including whisper.cpp, SwiftWhisper, the KeyboardShortcuts library, and the OpenAI Whisper speech models, each provided under its own license (primarily the MIT license). Those components remain the property of their authors and are used under their licenses. A full list of acknowledgements is available on request and is included with the app.

Trademarks

Halvox and CreatixBox are trademarks of CreatixBox LLC. Claude and Anthropic are trademarks of Anthropic. ChatGPT and Codex are trademarks of OpenAI. Cursor, Gemini, Apple, macOS, and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. Halvox names these products only to describe compatibility. Halvox is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them.

What Halvox is and is not

Halvox is a tool that turns speech into text. Speech recognition is never perfect, and results depend on your audio, your microphone, and the model you choose. You are responsible for reviewing what Halvox produces before you rely on it, especially for anything important.

Warranty disclaimer

Halvox is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that Halvox will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CreatixBox will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Halvox. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, where CreatixBox LLC is established, together with applicable United States federal law, and without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the place where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms as Halvox evolves. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and continued use of Halvox means you accept the updated terms.
